Private Sector Discussed Low Carbon Economy and EU Emissions Trade

The Climate Platform brought together the private sector representatives by organizing a roundtable meeting on 4 May 2010. Detailed information on the innovative international financing tools which were implemented to facilitate the processes of combating climate change and transition to a low-carbon economy were discussed as part of the roundtable meeting. Besides, EU ETS, which is being carried out for the carbon-intense sectors, was evaluated in reference to their opportunities for the private sector and the possible regulations that will be implemented in 2012. Dr. Yasemin Biro; United Nations Foundation Senior Policy Advisor and member of the Climate Platform Scientific Advisory Committee and Dr. Marzena Chodor, European Commission Policy Officer at Directorate-General for Climate Action participated in the meeting
